Playwright to offer free seminar

Julia Gagne at Valencia Community College tells me she has two or three spaces still open in a playwriting seminar to be offered Friday by Arlene Hutton, right, the award-winning playwright who wrote Last Train to Nibroc, See Rock City, Gulf View Drive and Letters to Sala, which will be produced at Annie Russell Theatre next season.

Hutton is an alumna of Rollins College. Her plays have been produced in London, New York, Los Angeles, and across the U.S. and are published by Dramatists Play Service, Samuel French and Playscripts.com. She’s on the faculty of the Sewanee Writers’ Conference.

The seminar, which is sponsored by a grant from the University Club of Orlando, is from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday on the east campus of Valencia. If you’re interested, get in touch with Gagne at JGagne@valenciacc.edu.

  1. I took a wonderfully engaging master class from ‘Arlene’ at Playfest a few years ago. She brought so many levels of experience to the class that made it multilayered and memorable. I highly recommend it!
