On this weekend: The Broadway Boys

We caught the Broadway Boys last night at the Orlando Cabaret Festival (at downtown’s Mad Cow Theatre), and we were in heaven.

Don’t miss them. Really.

Shows are at 8 p.m. tonight (Friday), 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Introducing The Broadway Boys
As if they need any introduction, The Broadway Boys return to the
Orlando Cabaret Festival for the third year in a row, with an all-new show!

This remarkable group is made up of veterans of the Broadway productions of Jersey Boys, Mary Poppins, Rent, 42nd Street, Hairspray, and many more! The Broadway Boys is a collection of the hottest male voices currently working on the New York stage. Through their dynamic vocal prowess and redefining arrangements, the Boys add elements of Pop, Funk, Gospel, Jazz, and Folk to showtunes and classic pop songs. Performing in groups of six, the Boys are able explore harmonies rarely presented by Broadway singers.

Jim Caruso, who books acts for the New York jazz club Birdland, and was a part of the 4th Annual Orlando Cabaret Festival is the one who calls the Broadway Boys a “super-group” and its members “first-rate singers on the New York theatrical scene.” He booked the group into Birdland the first time without having heard a note based only on  the names in his cast. Now the Broadway Boys have become regulars there, and they have jammed the club, Caruso says, with theater folk, friends and fans.

“If you love musical theatre, you need to see the Broadway Boys at the Orlando Cabaret Festival. If you think you don’t like musical theatre (and we know who you are), you need to see the Broadway Boys at the Orlando Cabaret Festival.” –  Elizabeth Maupin Orlando Sentinel.   “Best Orlando Concert in 2008” – Commander Coconut – Orlando Sentinel.
