Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance
Jul. 30-Aug. 22, 2010

Auditions: May 23 & 24, 2010

Directed by Cathy McEachern & Nathan Jessee

In Pirates of Penzance, Frederic was as a child apprenticed to a band of tenderhearted, orphaned pirates by his nurse who, being hard of hearing, had mistaken her master’s  instructions to apprentice the boy to a pilot. Frederic, upon completing his 21st year, rejoices that he has fulfilled his indentures and is now free to return to respectable society. But it turns out that he was born on February 29 in leap year, and he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday.

Shakespeare’s Macbeth
Sep. 10-26, 2010

Auditions: May 30-31, 2010

Directed by Dan Martin

Macbeth is a tragedy about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1606. Shakespeare’s sources for the tragedy are the accounts of Kings Macbeth, Duff, and Duncan in Holinshed’s Chronicles (1587), a history of England, Scotland and Ireland familiar to Shakespeare and his contemporaries. In the backstage world of theater, some believe the play is cursed and will not mention its name aloud, referring to it instead as The Scottish Play.
