This was announced yesterday, but with so much Fringe stuff to do I wasn’t able to pass it on. Sean Hayes, of Promises, Promises and Will & Grace, will host this year’s Tonys June 13.
I have to say the choice doesn’t thrill me (a guy from a TV show I only saw 10 minutes of once). Too bad Neil Patrick Harris is not coming back.
Ah, well. Here’s the story:
Dear Tony Awards Fan,
Just announced! Sean Hayes, best known for his hilarious role as Jack McFarland on Will & Grace, will host the 2010 Tony Awards.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards,” said Hayes. “As the new guy on Broadway, it’s an honor to be included in the established alumni.” The Emmy and SAG Award-winning Hayes is currently starring in the first-ever Broadway revival of Promises, Promises opposite Kristin Chenoweth, for which he has received a 2010 Tony nomination as Best Actor in a Musical.
