Theater auditions: ‘Children of Eden’ at Breakthrough

Here’s an audition notice from Wade Hair:

The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park will hold auditions for the Stephen Schwartz musical Children of Eden, directed by Wade Hair, on Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27, from 5-7 p.m.

From Stephen Schwartz (Godspell and Pippin) and John Caird of Les Miserables comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith … not to mention centuries of unresolved family business!

Freely based on the story of Genesis, Children Of Eden is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that “the hardest part of love … is letting go.”

No appointments taken. Auditions will be on a first come basis.

Auditioners should prepare 16 bars of both an upbeat and a ballad theater song. A piano accompanist will be provided. You may also use an accompaniment CD.

Looking for singers of all ages and nationalities.

Rehearsals will run from July 5-August 5, Mondays through Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. (More if necessary)

Show Dates are August 6-22, 2010
Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Call Wade Hair at 407-920-4034 or write to him on Facebook (quicker response).
