Matilde is an unhappy young Brazilian woman looking for the perfect joke in the midst of her employer’s family dysfunctions. She is sad from losing her parents, who were both comic geniuses and doesn’t like to clean. Lane’s sister Virginia, a bored housewife, wants to clean the house for Matilde to give herself something meaningful to do. Meanwhile, Charles, Lane’s husband who is also a surgeon, falls madly in love with one of his charismatic patients, Ana. He decides to leave Lane for her.

Lane discovers the true meaning of having a clean house both metaphysically and realistically.

Spring Awakening, Carbon Productions

Carbon Productions, LLC is proud to announce it will present Spring Awakening: A Children’s Tragedy by Frank Wedekind. The play, which was the source material for the hit Broadway musical of the same name, was written in 1891, but was immediately banned due its frank depiction of sexuality. The story revolves around a group of teens in Germany who explore and, ultimately, must come to terms with their own growing desires. At times both tragic and humorous, challenging and familiar, the play is often censored and rarely produced.

Featuring a new translation by award-winning novelist Jonathan Franzen, Spring Awakening is as relevant and provocative today as it was a hundred years ago.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical TheatreWorks Florida in Winter Haven:

Theatre Winter Haven announces The Great American Trailer Park Musical

The TheatreWorks Florida production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical is coming to Theatre Winter Haven for two performances only Saturday, June 26 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, June 27 at 2:30 PM.  Tickets for adults are $20 for subscribers and $22 for the public.  No children’s tickets are being sold and all seating is reserved.

The production is presented by TheatreWorks Florida as a fundraiser for Theatre Winter Haven.

Tickets are available online at www.theatrewinterhaven.com or 294 SHOW(7469).

This R rated show (no one under 17 admitted) takes place in Starke, Florida and ran for 3 years in New York where Liz Smith of the New

York Post said: “This deliciously dirty new musical is delighting audiences.  The show is a little like “The Honeymooners” meet “The Best Little Whorehouse.”

Filled with crowd-pleasing songs, belly laughs and raunchy characters, this campy sexy, bawdy R-Rated musical fable is seasoned with murderous ex-boyfriends, Costco, the Ice Capades, and a striper on the run who comes between a Dr. Phil-loving agoraphobic housewife and her toll-both collector husband.  With a chorus of trailer park divas residing in Armadillo Acres, an exclusive Florida mobile home community in Starke, this escapist, fun musical ranges across the American Radio dial from country to blues to rock to disco to bump n’ grind to Rock n Roll.

The show is guaranteed to offend just about everyone-unless you’ve lived there.

Coming from their award-winning performance at the Orlando Fringe Festival, the TheatreWorks Florida production was a complete sellout and features a professional cast.  A limited number of seats are available for the general public for the two scheduled performances at the Chain of Lakes Theatre in Winter Haven.

For more info call 299-2672.
