Longtime Orlando Shakespeare favorite Eric Hissom will be back in town for the theater’s production of the Henry James classic The Turn of the Screw, which also will star veteran Orlando Shakes actress Suzanne O’Donnell.
For the last year or so Hissom has been traveling with the national tour of The 39 Steps.
Here’s more info from Orlando Shakes marketing director Melissa Mason on The Turn of the Screw, which has replaced Cymbeline in the theater’s fall lineup:
We are very excited to announce the cast of The Turn of the Screw! Audience favorites Eric Hissom (Wittenberg, King Lear, Moon for the Misbegotten) and Suzanne O’Donnell (Merry Wives of Windsor, Comedy of Errors, Othello)! Look for 39 Steps casting soon!
Eric Hissom recently won the Helen Hayes award for “outstanding supporting actor in a resident play” for his performance in a production of Arcadia at the Folger Theatre. He will be appearing next in Sarah Ruhl’s In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in DC from August 23 – September 19, 2010.
In the Next Room… will be directed by Aaron Posner, who Orlando audiences might remember as the director of OST’s production of Art in its 2001 Season. Since a portion of Turn of the Screw rehearsals conflict with the final week of Eric’s show in DC, our cast and director, Anne Hering, will be spend the first week of rehearsals in DC. Woolly Mammoth has generously donated their space for Orlando Shakes’ exclusive use.
We are so pleased that we have formed this relationship with the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company! I think it’s a great example of regional theatres working together!
