Here’s an audition notice for Glengarry Glen Ross at the Surfside Playhouse in Cocoa Beach:
Surfside Players announces AUDITIONS for:
GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS
By David Mamet
Surfside Players, Cocoa Beach, is holding AUDITIONS for the opening production of our 2010-2011 season, Glengarry Glen Ross, by David Mamet, winner of the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This scalding comedy, which was adapted into a film in 1992 and revived on Broadway in 2006, presents parts of two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts—from lies and flattery to bribery, threats, intimidation, and burglary—to sell undesirable real estate to unwilling prospective buyers, in a never-ending scramble for their share of the American dream.
Auditions will be held Sunday July 18 and Monday July 19 at 7:00 p.m. at our playhouse in Cocoa Beach, FL. We are looking for seven adult men of various ages. No experience or resume required. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes, and think about dates in the next two months that might conflict with rehearsals. Note: The role of Blake (Alec Baldwin), from the 1992 film, is NOT in the play.
Performance dates are September 10-26 (three weekends), Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 p.m., Sundays 2:00 p.m. Directed by Anthony Mowad. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French. Warning: This is a David Mamet play; expect VERY strong language.
To get to Surfside from the mainland, take either US-528 or US-520 eastbound to A1A southbound, OR take either US-192 or the Pineda Causeway eastbound to A1A northbound. Drive into Cocoa Beach and turn west on Fifth Street South. Call (321) 783-3127 or go to www.surfsideplayers.com for more info.
