Here’s a late-breaking audition notice if I’ve ever seen one — the Bay Street Players’ production of The Foreigner, with auditions today and Tuesday:
Bay Street Players will hold auditions for The Foreigner on July 12 & 13 at 7:30PM at 109 N. Bay Street, Eustis. Artistic Director David Clevinger is looking for 5 males ages 20-60 & 2 females ages 20-70. Newcomers are welcome. Anyone not interested in performing onstage is invited to join our team of volunteers and to learn of backstage opportunities needed for this production. The Foreigner will open September 17th and run for four weekends ending on October 10.
The Foreigner is set in a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia, where two English men, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, he cannot find words due to his terrible shyness. Froggy then claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is from an exotic country and does not understand English. Due to his supposed lack of ability to understand English, Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge.
The Foreigner is generously sponsored in part by United Arts of Central Florida and the City of Eustis. Please contact the theatre at (352) 357-7777 or visit the web site at www.baystreetplayers.org for directions or for further information.
