The next cabaret performer for the Winter Park Playhouse’s Spotlight Series will be Orlando singer/actor T. Robert Pigott, who will perform in the Playhouse’s lovely little lobby bar Oct. 8 and 9. Chris Leavy, the theater’s musical director, will accompany him on the piano.
Pigott is a familiar face to local audiences, not only for his years at Disney but for his frequent work with Orlando Theatre Project and Orlando Shakespeare Theater – most recently in OTP’s farewell production, Almost, Maine, and in Orlando Shakespeare’s 2009-2010 season opener The Big Bang.
Here’s the official word on Mr. Pigott. These cabaret shows sell out fast, so make your reservations while you can.
T. Robby Pigott at Winter Park Playhouse in Spotlight Cabaret Series October 8 and 9, 2010
The amazing T. Robby Pigott, with pianist Chris Leavy, will be presenting his diverse vocal talents in his cabaret, Something New, as part of the popular Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret Series Friday, October 8 at 7:30pm and Saturday, October 9 at 7:30 and 9:30pm. Tickets are $15 and include a drink from the bar.
Mr. Pigott, who is no stranger to the Orlando theatre scene, will be making his very first appearance at the Playhouse. Robby grew up on the island of Maui, where he performed in over 50 shows before attending Yale University. Weeks after he moved to New York City to become an actor, he was touring the U.S. with a production of Babes In Toyland, followed by a European tour of West Side Story, which led to two years in the German production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express. After opening in the original cast of Starlight Express in Las Vegas and an Off-Broadway show, which Newsday critic Clive Barnes called “the worst musical of all time,” he moved to Orlando to work for Walt Disney World. For 15 years he has performed for thousands of Disney guests in the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, Superstar Television, Doug Live, Turtle Talk With Crush, The Adventurers Club, the Comedy Warehouse and as Nemo’s father, Marlin, in Finding Nemo the Musical. Other Orlando appearances include Wit, Chesapeake, Coyote on a Fence, Auntie & Me, Doubt and Almost, Maine for Orlando Theatre Project and Into the Woods, Comedy of Errors, Opus, Charm and The Big Bang at Orlando Shakespeare Theater.
Playhouse artistic director Roy Alan says, “Robby is a critically-acclaimed actor and one of the finest musical-theatre performers in Central Florida. This cabaret is a must for anyone who loves musical theatre AND cabarets!”
Seating is limited to 50, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.
