Theater auditions: Playwrights Round Table’s new shows

Here’s an audition notice from Playwrights Round Table:

PRT will have open auditions for its 3 new shows to be produced November 4-14 at Studio B in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center.

Auditions will be held at Studio B in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center from 6 pm to 10 pm on Tuesday, September 21.

The shows and roles to be cast are:

Booth in the Barn by George Loukides. A drama focusing on John Wilkes Booth’s final moments on the lam.

Roles – John Wilkes Booth (Male), Davy – his rider (M), Edwin Booth (M), Abraham Lincoln (M), John’s Mother (Female), Henrietta – his muse (F), Soldier (M).

Good Dog, by William Roeder. A comedy featuring a trial of Dog who bit his owner. Judge Owl presiding with prosecutor Cat.

Roles – Cat (F), Dog (M), Owl (either), two Sheep (either)

Best Present Ever, by Molly Jessop. A horror mystery writer takes a stab at writing a children’s book for his soon-to-be-born child.

Roles – Joe Bluth – the writer (M), Laura Bluth – his wife/Boy’s Mother (F), The Boy (Child, male appearance), Randy the Robot (either, likely M), The Stranger/Father (M)

7 Translations, by Stephen Miller. Returning from this year’s Summer Shorts production, Romeo and Juliet try different tongues to tell their tale and tempt their fate.

Roles – Romeo (M)

Auditioners should bring a headshot and resume, if possible, and be prepared for cold readings from the scripts, possibly more than once.
If you have a monologue, it may be requested, but it is not required to audition. Please note that all actors should assume all roles are unpaid. Actors can attempt to be cast for more than one show.  PRT will also be looking to fill production staff and other volunteer positions for this production.

Please be mindful of the following required dates:

* Nov. 1, 2, 3 – tech nights with a possible preview date for the 3rd.

* Nov. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 – potential show dates – shows will be performed in rep style with 6-7 shows guaranteed for each. Tentative November schedule will be available at the audition.
