Remember the Oops Guys?

Got a note from Fiely Matias and Dennis Giacino, otherwise known as the Oops Guys, to tell us what they’re up to in the Great North. It seems that their new musical revue, Bitches of the Kingdom! — also called Disenchanted!, and a look at what happens to the princesses of the fairy tales after they’re exploited by the theme parks — is getting a staged reading this fall at William Paterson University in New Jersey, and they’re hoping for an Orlando Fringe slot next May.

Here’s Fiely:

We are doing well. Still in NYC, working on our new show Bitches of the Kingdom! (sometimes referred to as Disenchanted!) We put up a workshop at Pearl Studios in NYC last December – sold out both nights, a standing ovation each evening, 1300+ fans on Facebook, a rave review – the women were amazing!

The show also just nabbed a FINALIST award in the New Jersey Playwrights Contest! This grants the ‘Bitches’, the girls of ‘Les Diz’ as we like to call them, a coveted STAGED READING PRODUCTION at William Paterson University in NJ this coming Nov./Dec. WillPat supplies a director, music director, the theater, advertising, the cast, rehearsal facilities, etc. – at no cost to us! There are three such readings – one will be chosen for a full production to take place next June at William Paterson! Woo-hoo!

We are also putting Bitches into the Orlando Fringe lottery for 2011. Hoping, praying, lighting St. Jude candles that we get pulled out of the hat – would love to bring the show to Orlando!

Bitches of the Kingdom! – A New Musical Revue
Living happily ever after can be a royal pain in the ass!

The princesses from the original fairy tale books have banded together in solidarity against the exploitation they’ve suffered in the Disney films and theme parks.
