Here’s an audition announcement from Florida Children’s Repertory Theatre:
Florida Children’s Repertory Theatre, an adult, professional company, will hold auditions for The Emperor’s New Clothes on two Sundays: December 5 and 12, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Seminole County Library, 215 N. Oxford Road, Casselberry, in the Community Room, lower level.
Actors should present one monologue and be prepared for cold readings. Bring one headshot and resume. Audition appointments are preferred (call 407-657-4483), but walk-in auditionees will be welcome. Actors will be paid.
The Emperor’s New Clothes, adapted by Doreen Heard from the story by Hans Christian Andersen, is a delightful comedy set in the 1600s. Two young actors from Molière’s theatre company, in search of adventure, happen upon the palace of Emperor Louis the eighty-fourth. There they find a wonderful opportunity to play a trick on the emperor and have a great adventure for themselves. When the emperor wears his “new clothes” as he walks in a procession, the children in the audience will scream!
The Emperor’s New Clothes replaces the play Every Children’s Story Ever Told, previously announced for February production. The show will be performed for ArtsFest, on selected weekends at the Maitland Civic Center, and will be available for touring to area schools. Reservations are now being accepted for in-school productions and field trips. Call 407-657-4483.
The following roles will be cast:
- Jean — An actor and a rogue. Very energetic, good comic actor, age 20s.
