Tracy McCoy takes job at Gateway

Tracy McCoy, who has worked for both the Athens Theatre and the Sands Theater Center in DeLand, has been given the job of running the 2-year-old Gateway Center for the Arts in DeBary. She takes over from Sandra Wilson, the artist who persuaded the town to build the Gateway Center as a place for residents to enjoy the arts.

McCoy, who has a BFA in theater, began working at the center in November and will be the chief administrator, overseeing a small staff and a lot of volunteers. She has been an actor, a producer and an administrator for a variety of theater companies for the past 20 years. According to an article in the Daytona Beach News-Journal, she plans to produce more theater at Gateway and offer arts classes year-round.

Congratulations to Tracy!

I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with both Tracy and Allen McCoy producing shows and theatre workshops in the DeBary area. The energy Tracy brings to her position will be wholesome and dynamic! We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber as an addition to our community. I look forward to enjoying the programming she will provide via the Gateway Center for the Arts, to educate and entertain young and old alike. Break a leg, Tracy!
