Theater auditions: Three Tod Kimbro shows

Here are audition notices for three different shows by writer Tod Kimbro — My Illustrious Wasteland, planned for March; a new version of Suckers at the Fringe and Media, planned for June:

What:  Open casting call on January 22, for 3 upcoming musical productions, all written by Tod Kimbro: My Illustrious Wasteland in March 2011; Suckers: A Freaky Little Musical in May 2011 at Orlando Fringe; and Media in June 2011.

Where/When: Studio B at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. (812 East Rollins Orlando, FL 32803). Saturday, January 22 from noon to 3:45 PM.  Callbacks for Suckers will take place immediately after, between 4 and 6 PM.

Needed: Actor/pop-rock singers who move well; late teens to late thirties.  Those auditioning can show up anytime between noon and 3 PM.  Anyone who arrives after 3 PM runs the risk of not being seen. To schedule an appointment, call Tod Kimbro at 407-697-8981.

Please prepare approximately 16 bars of a ROCK or POP song from the last thirty years.  PLEASE NO SHOW TUNES.  Obvious exceptions would be songs from rock musicals like American Idiot, Spring Awakening, and Rent.   A CD player will be available for pre-recorded accompaniment.  Otherwise, be prepared to sing a capella.
Also, please prepare a one-minute comic monologue.  Bring headshot and resume.  Be ready to read sides.

MARCH 24-27: A concert production of My Illustrious Wasteland, the acclaimed sci-fi rock musical, which was produced at the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Co-produced by Tod Kimbro and Empty Spaces Theatre Company, presented at the Orlando Shakespeare Mandell Studio Theater.  Position are unpaid; profits will benefit the June production of Media.  Looking for actor/singers in their 20’s and 30’s.

ORLANDO FRINGE 2011 (late May): A musical version of Suckers, Kimbro’s hit play about goth kids and club kids, set in the ‘90’s.  Actors will receive a percentage of net profits. Directed by Michael Marinaccio and presented in the Green Venue.  Looking for actor/singers in their late teens to early 30’s.

JUNE 9-26:  The world premiere production of Kimbro’s new musical Media, a multi-story narrative set to a score of modern indie rock and chamber pop. Co-produced by Tod Kimbro and Empty Spaces Theatre Company, presented at the Orlando Shakespeare Mandell Studio Theater.   Looking for actor/singers in their late 20’s to late 30’s. Profit sharing arrangement.
