Celery Ball coming up in Sanford

When was the last time you could say you’d been to a Celery Ball? Now’s your chance, because Creative Sanford is presenting its annual Masquerade Celery Ball at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Sanford Civic Center.

Proceeds go to a good cause — to support the production of Celery Soup, the Sanford oral-history project. The first installment, called Touch and Go, is onstage currently at the Princess Theater in downtown Sanford.

Reserved tables start at $750.  General admission tickets are $50.

Here’s more about the event:

This year promises to be an exciting event as we have 5 candidates in the running for Celery King and Queen.  In just two years the Masquerade Celery Ball has become one of the premiere events in Sanford and Seminole County.  The 2011 Masquerade Celery Ball will be emceed by Jose Fajardo, President of WMFE.

Come join us at this great fundraiser for Creative Sanford and Celery Soup. Catering will be provided by River City Catering.  The support generated over the last two years was largely responsible for the successful inaugural performance of Touch and Go that premiered at the Princess Theater this past October.  Black tie is optional, masks are encouraged!  Please make your reservations today and join us for a wonderful night.  Call 407-314-6750.

  1. Thank you for helping to create interest in the Celery Ball this year by publishing your article . I’m in the cast of “Touch and Go” as the Queen (one of them) and have thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to get involved in such a warm and giving community. I was just crowned Celery Queen of Sanford and am looking forward to doing what I can to add more ingredients to our “Celery Soup”.
