Mad Cow to present staged reading of ‘Women of Lockerbie’

Deborah Brevoort

Some of you may know playwright Deborah Brevoort, who has conducted play-writing workshops here and whose play The Blue-Sky Boys, about the engineers responsible for the first Apollo moon landing, was done at PlayFest a while back.

Now Mad Cow Theatre is presenting a staged reading of another of Brevoort’s works, The Women of Lockerbie (which also had a reading here a couple of years ago).

Scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday April 3, the reading features a cast of Mad Cow favorites: Sara Catherine Barnes (Company, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Avis Marie-Barnes (Sonnets for an Old Century, Yellowman), Elizabeth Dean (The Constant Wife, Present Laughter), Tommy Keesling (She Stoops to Conquer, Arcadia), Janine Papin (The Cradle Will Rock, Sweeney Todd) and Mark Edward Smith (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Heiress).

The reading is directed by Karel K. Wright (She Stoops to Conquer, The Heiress). Tickets are $5 and are available at 407-297-8788 or madcowtheatre.com.

Yes it was wonderful to do that show! We did a reading of it a few years back with Deborah Brevoort there – it was a coproduction between Empty Spaces in conjunction with the WPI! What a wonderful story to tell. We chose it because I was at Syracuse University when we lost our students, including students from the Drama Department there. Sending love to Mad Cow with this!
