Theater auditions: Orlando Shakespeare’s Young Company

Here’s an audition notice (and a bit of history) for Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s Young Company, a group of high-school students:

The Young Company (TYC) is a diverse group of high school students from Central Florida who receive voice, movement and character training while working on a fully produced (i.e. professional costumes, lights, set & sound designs) play. TYC strives to provide talented young artists a nurturing environment where positive self-expression is encouraged through active involvement in the exploration of classical drama.

The productions are led by Anne Hering, Director of Education at Orlando Shakespeare Theater.

Auditions: April 23, 2011, 2 – 6 p.m.
Call Anne Hering, Director of Education, for audition appointment and info 407-447-1700 ext. 208.

The Young Company is open to students entering 9th grade through graduating seniors interested in learning more about theater, Shakespeare, and self-expression through the arts. Students from diverse communities selected by audition meet for four weeks during summer to rehearse and perform a fully produced Shakespeare play under the direction of professional Orlando Shakespeare Theater artists.
