The Javier Nandayapa Trio takes the stage at the Orlando Cabaret Festival.

Mad Cow Theatre and the Consulate of Mexico in Orlando announce a free, one-night-only, performance of Javier Nandayapa Trio May 4 at 7:00pm at Mad Cow Theatre.

Alberto Fierro Garza of the Mexican Consulate said, “The Mexican Consulate is thrilled to partner with Mad Cow Theatre, in order to jointly introduce to the refined public of Orlando one of Mexico´s best examples of contemporary world music: The Javier Nandayapa Marimba Jazz Trio, which has been combining the traditional  sound of the Marimba from Chiapas with  jazz and blues for more than 10 years. They have gained international recognition from Belize and Guatemala, to New York, Europe and the Middle east.”

The ensemble was formed in March 2000, with musicians of diverse backgrounds, and with a repertory ranging from minimalist and impressionist, to contemporary and folkloric music.  Among the most relevant activities of the group there is a large number of performances in different venues in Mexico, including the International Percussion Festival,  the Blas Galindo Hall in Mexico City’s National Center for the Arts; the Chihuahua University, Ciudad Juarez, and the Esperanza Iris theater.  Moreover, they have successfully interpreted contemporary marimba music, performing as a soloist, in Mexico and abroad, concert music from national and international repertories.

The trio appears as part of the Orlando Cabaret Festival at Mad Cow Theatre, featuring 45 performances of jazz, pop, Broadway, comedy, and a few surprises, featuring many of Central Florida’s favorite artists along with artists from Mexico and the New York Cabaret scene.

Although this performance is free, reservations are recommended, available by calling Mad Cow Theatre at 407.297.8788 or online at orlandocabaret.com.
