Theater auditions: GOAT’s ‘Spring Awakening’

Here’s a set of auditions for a second local production of Spring Awakening, this one by Greater Orlando Actors Theatre.

GOAT’s production is running in August (no definite dates given) in the Goldman Theater at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Orlando, while Breakthrough Theatre is also presenting Spring Awakening at its theater in Winter Park July 28-Aug. 22. Both are non-paying community-theater productions. Sounds confusing.

Here’s the full info from GOAT:

Greater Orlando Actors Theatre will hold auditions for the Tony award-winning musical Spring Awakening in the Goldman Theater at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins St., Orlando, on the following days and times:

Wednesday, June 8 from 7-11 P.M.
Friday, June 10 from 7-11 P.M.
Saturday June 11 from 7-11 P.M.
Callbacks, if necessary, will be arranged at auditions.

Regular Orlando theatre patrons may recognize GOAT as the community-centered group that has produced successful, critically acclaimed and provocative takes on major Broadway hits such as Jekyll & Hyde, Rent and Aida.

Paul Castaneda will direct. Michael Horn will serve as musical director and Jeremy Seghers will be assistant director.

Six young men and five young women are needed to play teenage roles. One adult male and one adult female are also needed. Actors must be 16 years of age or older. Those under 18 must have parental consent to audition.
