Theater auditions: ‘Pageant’

Here’s an audition notice for the musical Pageant. (I’d better note here that this is an all-male cast.)

What: Pageant: The Musical Comedy Beauty Contest
When: Wednesday, June 29 & Thursday, June 30 6pm-9pm
Production Dates: August 12 & 13, 19, 20
Rehearsals: Evenings beginning the week after auditions.
Where: 728 Gear Lake Avenue, Orlando, Fl 32803

Audition Requirements:
Please prepare a short vocal audition for our production team. Your song choice can be either a Broadway show tune or a popular song, but please bring sheet music in the proper key for the pianist. Be prepared to sing 16 bars of an up-tempo song. Make sure your selection shows off your singing ability and your personality. There will be a cold reading from the script. Although not necessary, if you have a head shot and resume feel free to bring them. Please bring your appointment calendars on that day so that you are prepared to state any rehearsal conflicts you may anticipate.

ABOUT THE SHOW
One of the rowdiest farces ever staged, Pageant pits six beauty queens against each other in the Glamouresse annual extravaganza. Miss Texas, Miss Great Plains, Miss Deep South, Miss Industrial Northeast, Miss West Coast and Miss Bible Belt sing, dance and camp it up in gowns and bathing suits. A hilarious talent contest is equaled only by the zany “spokesmodel” event which requires them to hawk the sponsor’s outrageous cosmetics. While les girls swirl around the charming host, judges from the audience decide who will be Miss Glamouresse. Rave revues appear in city after city when Pageant is in town.

  1. Absolutely one of my favorite shows ever! Is this a new group presenting this?

‘Pageant’ was done here in Orlando many years ago at the now defunct Beecham theater – it was hysterical.
