Dance auditions: National middle-school tour

Here’s an audition notice from John Peros Casting for dancers for a national tour going to middle schools:

Upbeat, multiple award-winning, hip, educational, edgy, contemporary hip-hop science concert, sponsored by NASA & Honeywell, touring middle schools throughout the U.S. & Canada. Website:

Male hip-hop dancers who look 18-25 y/o. (Must be 18+).

We are looking for ethnic males (African-American, Hispanic, etc.) who have a strong background in hip-hop dance, modern dance or break dancing. Talent should have ability to learn advanced hip-hop choreography quickly. Talent should be a strong singer or rapper. Talent should have the ability to participate in and articulate fun, informative demonstrations. No strong regional accents or dialects.

Talent must be attractive, dynamic, out-going, articulate, personable, hip and enthusiastic — someone who can relate to middle-school kids (12-14 y/o).

Auditioning talent will learn a 16-32 count hip hop combination, sing/rap from our current show lyrics and read from the current show script. Script excerpts will be available at casting. Wear comfortable clothes you can dance in. Talent should bring 3 copies of their headshot with resume attached. Talent should expect to stay for 2-3 hours. Talent should visit to hear/download show music. If hired for the tour talent will need a current U.S. passport or U.S. passport card.

  • $750 + 10% talent agency commission (if applicable) per week (Rehearsal 8/28 – 9/11)
  • $1,500 + 10% talent agency commission (if applicable) per week (Tour 9/12 – 11/19)
  • $45/Day Per Diem + All Rehearsal/Tour Travel + Private Hotel Room.

Two or three 45-min. shows are performed during a show day with 2 or 3 show days per school week. (Option to extend contract to Spring 2012 Tour)
