Here’s a note from Janine Papin about the late Jonathan May, the conductor, teacher and cellist who died suddenly Feb. 27 at the age of 51. Trinity Prep, where he taught, will dedicate its production of The Mikado to him. That show runs March 26-28. (Further information is below.)
From time to time we realize that we have been in the presence of excellence. And it’s not until someone is suddenly gone that we realize just how lucky we were, for that brief instant, to know and experience that special someone who was larger than life. On Thursday, March 4, members of the Orlando community gathered at Northland Church in Longwood, Florida to celebrate the life of Jonathan May, a man described by family and loved ones as “magical,” committed to leaving the legacy of music to all he came in contact with throughout his musical teaching career.
