Here’s a set of auditions for a second local production of Spring Awakening, this one by Greater Orlando Actors Theatre.
GOAT’s production is running in August (no definite dates given) in the Goldman Theater at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Orlando, while Breakthrough Theatre is also presenting Spring Awakening at its theater in Winter Park July 28-Aug. 22. Both are non-paying community-theater productions. Sounds confusing.

Every generation has one – that big Broadway musical that tells the story of who you are. For my generation, those of us who grew up in the 1960s, it was Hair (although even in high school I wished for a show that wasn’t quite so dopey). For those who came up in the ‘90s, that musical was Rent. And for those who are hitting their stride now, it’s Spring Awakening, a remarkable show that understands exactly what it is to be young and alienated and yearning for something more.
Here’s a very good deal on tickets for the tour of Spring Awakening, due in Orlando next week:
Spring Awakening, the Tony Award-winning musical, cut ticket prices by 50% today for all shows during its limited May 18-23 run in Orlando.
