Robin Jensen joins Florida Opera Theatre

Robin Jensen

Robin Jensen, an Orlando Opera alum and a frequent collaborator at Mad Cow Theatre, is joining Florida Opera Theatre as its director of youth programs. Robin is also artistic director for UCF’s opera program and head of the music program at New School Preparatory Orlando.

Auditions for Florida Opera Theatre’s will be in late August. Watch here for more info on that as the time gets closer.

Florida Opera Theatre offers scholarship

Florida Opera Theatre, an organization dedicated to furthering opera in Central Florida, is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student to attend one of three programs: the Sherrill Milnes and Friends Summer Program in Tampa, a vocal training program for career-seeking artists or the Generation X Summer Youth Intensive.

Sarah Purser chosen Orlando Idol

Sarah Purser, a graduate student in music at UCF, won Florida Opera Theatre’s Orlando Idol competition Sunday night at Trinity Prep.

Purser, 28, was selected by a panel of judges made up of soprano Susan Neves, jazz singer and bandleader Michael Andrew and Rudi Cleare, managing director of the Negro Spiritual Scholarship Foundation.

Critic/author Terry Teachout back at Rollins

Writer Terry Teachout, theater critic for the Wall Street Journal and author of the best-selling biography Pops, about Louis Armstrong, is back at Rollins College this month as part of the Winter Park Institute.
